Relaxing
Posted by Anne Bowie on July 16, 2009 at 1:54am
On the shore of the lake, A short young woman with a curvy build sat soaking up the moonlight. A black leather sketch pad lay beside her on the grass abandoned for the moment. A breeze caught a loose strand of dark hair from a long braid and caused it to fly across her face. The bright green color of her loose and gauzy sundress just matched her eyes. After a moment she laid back using a red corduroy backpack studded with metal buttons bearing varying slogans as a pillow.

A few seconds later a man with dark hair wearing a sleeveless hoodie steps out of the car, then walks down to the beach, but stops suddenly as he notices he isn't alone.

Reply by Anne Bowie on July 16, 2009 at 2:07am Delete The loud sound of a car engine caused the woman to come quickly but gracefully to a sitting position. A second later bright headlights caused her to shield her eyes. She cursed softly in French as she stood, grabbed her backpack, and reached for the sketchbook. It was then she noticed that the breeze had caused the slim leather folder to fall open and several of her more recent sketches had started to blow perilously close to the water. Heedless of how silly she might look, she took off after them.

He didn't bother looking at it as it was none of his business. Instead he just walked over to the stranger and held it out without looking at it, "I think this is yours."

Reply by Jeremy Castro on July 16, 2009 at 2:21am Delete Sabre offers her his hand with a friendly smile and says, "I'm Sabre. I didn't mean to startle you and there is no need for you to rush off either, its a big beach and I'm sure we can share it."

Reply by Anne Bowie on July 16, 2009 at 2:29am Delete Elise smiled back. "All right then I'll stay." she said sitting down carefully. She looked out over the lake again and sighed. "I am glad this lake seems to serve as a suitable inspriational substitute to the Bay."

Reply by Jeremy Castro on July 16, 2009 at 2:33am Delete Sabre looks at her and was about to walk off when she started talking to him. So instead he decided to take a seat next to her and have a conversation. He smiled and said, "What bay would that be?"

Reply by Anne Bowie on July 16, 2009 at 2:39am Delete "What bay!?" Elise said with surprise in her voice. Then she remembered, this was the Midwest and he likely would not have caught her implied capital lettering of the word. "Sorry, I forgot where I was for a moment. I meant San Francisco Bay."

Reply by Jeremy Castro on July 16, 2009 at 2:43am Delete Sabre shrugs, "Sorry, I haven't been out west in a long time. I've never lived out there, just visited a time or two. So what brings you so far inland? Hiding from something?" He grins playfully at the question.
