Relief from Thought 8/7/09 (Attn: Maddalena/Anyone) Posted by Geneva Pfalser
Walking around the deserted park seemed like a really good idea when Alayna first set foot inside grounds. She didn't really want to be alone but still wanted to enjoy the warm night air so naturally the park seemed like a good place to go. She walks over to a set of swings and sits down on one, waiting to see if anyone will show up and give her relief from her inner thoughts.

A dark muttering can be heard from the tree line and then a small woman looking about 20 with dark hair emerges, tugging bits of plants from her rose patterned dress with irritation. She is holding a teddy bear by the foot, its arms dangling in mute surrender to her. As the woman draws closer it becomes clear that the bear is covered in old dried blood and dust, or ash. She is muttering to herself "...the indignity of it all! This should not be! I saved them! They should be grateful, not stupid!" She stops short as she sees Alayna.
"Well well. Hello there little girl. Would you like a piece of candy?" She smiles slowly.

Alayna turns slowly in her swing as she hears the mutterings of someone near the trees. She stands looking confused as the woman near her own physical age calls her little and offers her candy. "Ummm no thank you."

Maddalena chuckles and her smile widens. "Good answer. And good manners! You must not be one of mine. So then, riddle me this, why does a young lady go to swing at a park after dark? Is she looking for trouble? A rendezvous? Or is it fate that brings her here so that she can be asked one single question. Do you know Stan?"

Alayna shakes her head at the other woman as she answers. "Lets go with fate. I haven't actually met him no. I am being spoken for until I get the chance."

Maddalena bursts into a genuinely happy laughter. "Oh fortune and Father you smile upon me this night!" She tilts her head curiously. "Do you have a name child?" She begins patting the bear's fur into place even though it is matted and beyond repair.

Maddalena's eyes sparkle with delight. "Alayna. Very well then, I will give you my name if you promise to do me a favor. It is less than a trivial thing and may even brighten your meeting with Stan." She continues to preen the bear and straighten the pink ribbon about it's throat. "So tell me true Alayna girl, are you adventurous enough to know my name?"

Alayna places a finger on her chin thought for a few moments obviously mulling around the question. "I do believe I am. Just promise me one thing. That this trivial favor won't have larger negative consequences for me. But other than that I will be glad to do you a favor." She smiles sweetly at the other woman.

Her smile widens again, as she holds out the bear, some of the stuffing falls out of the headless neck onto the ground. "All I ask is that you deliver this bear to Stan when you meet him. Tell him these words exactly. 'A woman claiming her name is Maddalena told me to give you this.' In return I will lay claim to any and all repercussions that befall you for this favor once I meet Stan face to face. Do we have a deal my dear?"
