She turns to Alayna looking frustrated. "Why would my bears frighten anyone? Vampires kill people. This is just a stuffed animal." She shakes her head. "I have ten bears that I must get to Stan before I can see him. Before he will be able to SEE me."

"Vampires are also suspicious by nature but don't worry Maddalena I'm sure you'll find people to take your bears."

"I do not understand why you will not accept that I intend you no harm. This must happen. It will happen." She looks at Alayna, her eyes filled with worry. "The nothing will come again if it does not."

He flashed the charming smile at her as he accepted the bear. "What should I tell him when I give the bear to him?"

Just tell him that Maddalena asked you to give it to him. That is all I ask. There is nothing dangerous about the bear." As you take the bear you can tell that those stains are dried blood and dust, ...or is it ash?

He turns to Alayna, his eyes revealing his anguish. "If you don't mind, I'd like to go home. I can leave the car with you or give you money for a cab?" He searches her face to see if she can tell what is wrong with him.
