As he walks down the street, A.J. just can't help but notice how dreary the night seems. Clouds form a blanket across the sky, blocking the stars from shining through. As if they could shine through the glow of the street lights anyway. Even still, he wished the cloud cover was gone so he could at least see the sliver of moon that should be shining high in the sky. He's dressed rather casually in blue jeans, a black t-shirt and his long trenchcoat.
He enters the museum quietly and doesn't take the time to admire the latest artwork on display. He simply heads straight for the door that is known to be the Harpy's office. He knocks twice and waits patiently for her to either answer or not. It would be clear to anyone watching him that he had something on his mind and the help he needed was on the otherside of the office door.
Sitting at her desk writing, Lydia jumps slightly when the knock comes. Startled for a moment she then laughs softly. "Come in" She looks up to see A.J. entering the room. Smiling she tells him to have a seat. Moving her papers over and stacking them in a pile she looks at him. "A nice way to start an evening with company"
A.J. smiles and takes a seat in the offered chair. He appreciated the well received response from the Harpy. He pulls from the inside of his trenchcoat a single long stem white rose and offers it to her and says, "A gift for you." After she takes it, he continues, "It's been a few weeks since I last saw you and wanted to stop in and visit for a little bit. I hope my visit won't keep you from anything you had planned for the evening."
Accepting the rose with a smile "Thank you A.J. I love roses." She goes to place it in the vase that is already on the desk with yellow roses and sees there is no more room. Getting up she goes to a cabinet and pulls out a vase and places the flower in it and puts it on the desk.
"I am not in any rush to do anything at the moment. thank you for asking though. How are you enjoying your stay here so far?"
A.J. smiles as she treats his gift as if it was important to her. He wasn't sure if it was, but it was nice to see it so well received. He smiled when she asked him about how he was liking the city so far and says, "It has been even better than I expected. It has been so long since I settled down in one spot, but, I believe this is where I am going to remain. I love it here and I feel like I have found some very special things here."
He pauses for a moment before continuing, "I do feel bad though, because I am actually coming to visit for business' sake. I hope you'll forgive me for that. I have intended to pay a social visit sooner, but with all of the patrolling I've been doing lately, I haven't been able to make my way here." He pauses a moment again before continuing, "The reason for my visit tonight is in reference to my new restaurant, Gippetto's. I want to host a private party for all of the kindred of Lamar on the 26th of this month. The part where you would come in, if you choose to assist me, is helping me to get the word out to one and all. I simply haven't had the chance to meet as many as you have. Would you be willing to assist me?"
Nodding as she listens "I see. So the opening of your restaurant is more important than patrolling. Is that what you are saying?"
She waits to see his reaction then will laugh "take it easy. it's ok. You want me to use my position in this City as the Harpy to spread the word on the private opening of your restaurant?"
Sitting back in the chair she grins at him "Not to sound greedy A.J. but what do I get out of this?
A.J. looks shocked at her assessment on his patrolling. When she laughs though his smile returns but he still feels the need to address her statement and says, "Actually, my patrolling has been what has kept me from being able to open sooner. I take my patrolling very seriously as well as the protection of this great city. They are my first priority."
He pauses as she mentions compensation for her assistance. He had hoped that she would have considered it just something a friend would do for another friend, but, he understood since she is the Harpy and has to hold even her friends to the same standard as others. He shrugs and says, "What would you want for your assistance?"
A.J. smiles at the low price that she was willing to charge. Maybe in his mind, this was because he kept her from going to a juvenile hall so many years ago when he had caught her breaking in to his restaurant. He was sure that this would've been at least a minor matter, but it was definitely agreeable to him. He says genuinely, "I think that is acceptable. I would greatly appreciate the announcement."
He pauses for a moment and figures that there is time to be social instead of just running out now that the business had been taken care of. He says with a smile, "So, with business aside, how are things with the gentleman you spoke of that night at the Old Town Cabaret?"
