Mackenzie sits in one of the chairs in the museum. A chessboard is set up on the table in front of her, but she is actually reading a book. She is wearing a plain grey t-shirt, blue jeans, and brown sandals. Occasionally, she glances to the door to see if he has arrived and then resumes reading.
A.J. walks into the Elysium wearing just his black t-shirt and blue jeans. No need for his trench coat since he won't bring his bladed weapons inside. He found it peculiar that Mackenzie would choose the Elysium over the Station or the Cabin. Perhaps he was wrong about her and that she was indeed all about herself and nothing more.
He sat down in a chair across from her. His face is void of emotion as he looks at her and waits for her to acknowledge his arrival.
Mackenzie looks up from her book and smiles. "Nice to see you, A.J. " She places a bookmark in the book and places it on the floor next to her chair. "You wanted to meet in person?"
A.J. looks Mackenzie in the eyes and stares into them as if searching through her very soul. He doesn't speak for a long time, just stares into her eyes intently. Finally, after a long while he says, "Yeah, I wanted to talk about it face to face. I want to know where your head is at. Why are you asking so much for this? Is it just about getting what you want? Or is there something more to it?"
Mackenzie returns his stare, not breaking his gaze. "A.J., this is not about what I want. You wanted information. I asked if you wanted me to help. I wasn't sure I could, but I can."
A.J. looks back at her and says, "But you knew Corin was going to arrange the meeting and knew that Colonel Walker was going to give me more time. Now, everything is not what it was supposed to be and now, the only option I have now is to take your deal because your actions have taken my previous arrangement off of the table. So, tell me, why is it worth it to me to give you a major debt with no guarantee?"
