((OOC: This thread will stand for the rest of the night for people to gather and talk. Tomorrow I will post another part. The goal will be to finish this prior to the game Friday night))
Mackenzie walked around the Atrium ensuring that all the finishing touches were complete for honoring the memory of the fallen sheriff. Her black shirt and black skirt was out of the ordinary for her attire as was the smart black heels that clicked on the floor as she walked. The decorations were lovely and she had already shed tears in private over the words in the pamphlet. Mackenzie dismissed the staff and turned to survey the area one last time before the first guest would arrive.
Near the entrance was a long, white table with pamphlets on them with Eric's name. Next to the table stood a display of flowers (Funeral Flowers - Send Funeral Flowers - Buy Funeral Flowers - Funeral Florist). Inside the pamphlets will be the following poem:
A Song Of Living
Because I have loved life, I shall have no sorrow to die.
I have sent up my gladness on wings, to be lost in the blue of the sky.
I have run and leaped with the rain, I have taken the wind to my breast.
My cheek like a drowsy child to the face of the earth I have pressed.
Because I have loved life, I shall have no sorrow to die.
I have kissed young Love on the lips, I have heard her song to the end,
I have struck my hand like a seal in the loyal hand of a friend.
I have known the peace of heaven, the comfort of work done well.
I have longed for death in the darkness and risen alive out of hell.
Because I have loved life, I shall have no sorrow to die.
I give a share of my soul to the world where my course is run.
I know that my another shall finish the task I must leave undone.
I know that no flower, nor flint was in vain on the path I trod.
As one looks on a face through a window, through life I have looked on God,
Because I have loved life, I shall have no sorrow to die.

Several rows, enough for the whole city of Kindred, of comfortable folding chairs sat in a U shape around the urn display. The urn (http://www.alaskanfuneral.com/images...ington-urn.jpg) was placed on a small, round table with two vases of white lilies (Funeral Flowers - Send Funeral Flowers - Buy Funeral Flowers - Funeral Florist) next to it.
Taking a deep breath, Mackenzie wondered about her speech she had prepared. It would not be easy to speak in front of everyone, but for him she would.
"Only one last thing...." Mackenzie walked over and started the music. (YouTube - Mozart Requiem) Mackenzie closed her eyes for a moment before heading to the doors to greet the first arrival.

Jack arrives on foot, wearing a cheap, dark suit. He is stone-faced, but his eyes show hints of frustration. He greets Mackenzie with a solemn nod and uncomfortable smile.
"Thanks for doing this." he says, glancing about awkwardly. "Everything looks... Nice."

Cahill walks in with Maddalena on his arm. He is dressed in a parade dress Confederate uniform complete with saber on his side that rattles slightly as he walks. The uniform is immaculately pressed, the boots polished to high shine, the medals on his chest gleam as they catch the muted lights of the room.
It takes a thousand voices to tell a single story. —Native American saying.

Marzanna arrives, wearing a flowing black skirt, black silk tank top with a black lace form fitting jacket over it and black heels, her hair is braided down her back. She greets Mackenzie, "Thank you for doing this, it looks wonderful." She will then walk over to find a seat, smiling softly at Jack but not speaking unless he speaks to her, she takes a seat near the front.

JD walks in dressed in all black save for a dark charcoal-grey tie. In his hands is a twisted rope chain of bronze and silver with a medalion, looped about his hands and fingers which he slides his fingers along subconsciously. He reverently steps forward to just a few feet away from the urn and places his right hand flat over his heart in salute, the chain and medalion laced in his fingers and hand. He stands solumnly for a full two minutes, his posture straight and regal, his face solumn and respectful.
Finally with a short bow, he turns and walks slowly to one end of the arc of chairs and sits, continuing to focus solely on the urn, paying deep and silent respect to the fallen Warrior-Scholar.

Pius enters the Atrium. He is dressed black pants, with a black long sleve shirt and black shoes. In his left hand his Bible and his right his rosary. He walks over to the urn and stops and looks at it. He opens his Bible and takes out a card and places it near the urn. In a soft low voice he speaks.
"I saw a soldier kneeling down,
for this was the first quiet place he had found.
He had traveled through jungles, rivers and mud.
His hands were scared and toil-warned.
He folded his hands and looked to the sky...
I saw his tears, as they welled in his eyes.
He spoke to God, and this is what he said.
God Bless my men, who now lie dead;
I know not what You have in mind,
but when You judge, please be kind....
when they come before You, they will be poorly dressed
but will walk proudly, for they have done their best.
Their boots will be muddy and their clothes all torn...
but these clothes they have so proudly worn.
Their hearts will be still and cold inside,
for they have fought their best and did so with pride.
So please take care of them as they pass Your way...
the price of freedom they've already paid."
Pius makes the sigh of the cross over the urn,
"May the Father watch over you Eric, as you watched over us."
Turning slowing he will find a place to sit an bow his head.
