Thread: Lydia gets coffee for Cahill (Started 11/17

Cahill walks in quietly, he moves with an easy gait, smoothly making his way around the people and taking the seat opposite of Lydia.

"I wonder," he says with his soft southern drawl, "what could so trouble you?"

He looks at her with piercing blue eyes as if weighing her words before she even speaks them.

"I am sorry to be bringing you in on this but I fear we may have a problem within our family"
Looking around nervously before continuing "I am thinking that Mini is going to try and get rid of me. He even told me he wanted to put me on the front lines when this all goes down."

Cahill arches an eyebrow sharply. He raises one hand waving with two fingers to motion a server to their table. He sits quietly waiting for the service to arrive.
As the barista arrives, he looks at Lydia to see if she would like anything.

He then orders for both of them. Once the server is gone, he sits quietly a moment longer.

"That is most disturbing indeed. Perhaps there is some confusion happening that we might address directly?"

Anger showing on her face for a moment as she replies "Confusion? Yes, you could call it that. Trying to explain something is pointless with him. He would not let me speak, just yelled at me and telling me he tried to put me out there"

Pushing her drink to the side "I am not sure what else to do. I do know that I will not be alone with him as I do not wish to die"

Cahill nods slowly, blowing on his coffee and apparently sipping at it.

"That would be a most sensible thing, I would say . . ." he says to her as she finishes. "None of us wish to die."

He sits in quiet contemplation.

"Tell me Miss Lydia. What else is going on right now? I hear so many rumors, perhaps you could inform me of other things within our family? It does seem I'm somewhat out of touch since I abdicated my seat of authority."

Nodding as she listens, "Don't know that you have missed a whole lot with us. Mini is now speaker for the family. Maddalena is sometimes here, Stan, not sure what he is up to. Have not seen him for awhile. We have a new member but don't know too much about him. "

Leaning back in her seat a bit, she smiles "I am not sure there is more to know but feel free to ask questions"

"I do hear tell that the Speaker has offered up more then a little to retain control of a certain parcel of land here in the City to the current leader. Would that be true?"

"Yes You are correct in this. Mini has offered a life boon from the entire clan so that we may hold this one area, and to my knowledge this was done without talking to the family. I could be wrong on that part, who knows"

Cahill frowns deeply but nods, saying nothing for long moments. His sharp grey eyes study Lydia before him, sipping coffee quietly.

"It seems that perhaps the fractious nature of our family is coming to bear. Perhaps we can gather, discuss things, focus on the future. Perhaps the bearing weight of the matters outside the city and within it are causing rifts to be seen and form that do not in fact exist.

It is a problem with those of us who see more then those around us. Our observancy, our tenacious connection one to another can lead to . . . tensions others of our society do not have to contend with.
