Truth and Consequences (Attn Emma F 7-15) Posted by J Catron
JT walks into the coffee house and takes a seat, ordering a fresh ground double espresso from the waitress that approaches. He pulls out his blackberry and browses through the contact book finally settling on Emma's number. He dials it and leaves her a message if it goes to Voice mail.
"This is JT. I need to talk to you in private. If you are interested, come to the Coffee Haus as soon as possible."
JT hangs up and begins going through notes on the blackberry, waiting to see what happens.
5'6" of curves and long blood red hair walks in dressed in black jeans and a "bite me" sarcastic tee (complete with vampire fangs being around the outside of the words) ... her hair is pulled back in a loose pony tail and her denium jacket conceals to all but the most trained eye, her police issue weapon and badge. As always she is also sporting a golden heart shaped locket on a thin chain and a gold pocket watch.
She walks straight over to where JT is sitting and says, "I was suprised to hear from you..."
JT smiles slightly as Emma approaches. "Miss Fitzpatrick, thank you for joining me so quickly. Please, " he motions to a chair across from him at the small table. "make yourself comfortable."
JT looks toward the waitress and then looks to Emma. "Would you like some coffee?"
Emma sits down. "I would rather have some Guiness but since neither taste as good as they use to and wer'e here and not Sluggers ... coffee will do fine. So... what's this meeting about?"
JT Nods and waves the waitress over, ordering Emma a coffee, black. after they both have their cups and the waitress leaves, JT inhales the steam pouring off his refill and then sets it down.
quietly> "You're a busy woman, even now, so let me be brief. You used me at Bacchus saturday night. You had no reaction to my statement, as though you knew well before. Someone told you what I'd seen and how I'd reacted to it. And you used that to cement your play."
Emma looks annoyed. "I used you to save a good man's life... to stop a huge mistake from being made but..." she hesitates. "I did use you. I suppose that it's a debt I can't ignore. You can call on that if you'd like. Is that why I'm here now? You need me to do something for you?"
"I'm afraid you may have mistaken me, Miss Fitzgerald. I admired your use of the tools presented to you at the time. History favors those that use what they know."
q> "But I find myself puzzled. In our conversation prior to that point, you insinuated that Cahill was important, more so than his station. Specifically, you said '(repeats word for word what Emma said outside of Bacchus to JT/Azrael etc...)'. You tried to protect him, knowing even what I'd discovered, knowing even what you had discovered in that warehouse..."
"Ah... it's you who are mistaken JT... I don't think anyone can hold this domain together like Cahill. He's a military man and in the face of Sabbat, werewolves, fairies, and god knows what other potential threats out there... in my opinion he was our best man for the job. No offense meant to Stan but honeslty, I didn't think he'd be staying. I thought he was just a friend of Cahill's." she shrugs.
"My sire was a good friend of Cahill, that's no secret. He worked for Cahill and Cahill's sire as Sheriff before me. I know that he was flawed and made poor choices from time to time but no worse than some who would do this job."
JT nods slightly, watching Emma intently as she answers. "You seem unconvinced, certainly more subdued than I would expect for ... one of the more Passionate family."
JT reaches for his coffee mug and takes a slow sip from it.
"Are you saying that we can't be rational?" She narrows her eyes. "If you have doubts about my heritage I'd be glad to take you out back and demonstrate some of the finer points of my proud lineage." She snears. "Look if you have something you want me to confess to, come out with it otherwise you're wasting both our times. I did the right thing that night, I stood by the Tower and it's leadership until he wasn't leader any more which is more than I can say for some. No one, absolutely no one, can say that I did less than would be expected of anyone in my position." Abruptly, something of the fire that was missing a moment ago suddenly springs to life in her aura and in her eyes, like someone flipped a switch. Her aura, a thing that no man or woman can easily manipulate, flares in all the ways he might expect an offended, upset Brujah to do.
"So what is it JT... is our business done or do you have some other insult you'd like to throw my way? Maybe I'm not woman enough as well as not passionate enough for you?"
