Thread: Lydia seeks Lord Storm Started 11/23/09

The receptionist looks her up and down a moment as if appraising her for a moment. She then presses a button on her phone keypad and speaks to someone on the other end, "Lydia Bates is here to see Mr. Storm." She then listens for a moment. After a couple of seconds of listening to the person on the other end she smiles at Lydia as she hangs up and speaks, "Mr. Storm asked that I send you right up. He is on the fifth floor and he's already notified his assistant to let you into his office immediately.

The receptionist then stands and motions for her to follow her to the elevator and presses the button for her before returning to her desk. The elevator doors open and close behind Lydia a moment after she enters. Once they open on the fifth floor she'll note a small room with a desk and a door right to the left of the desk. The man sitting at the desk stands as soon as Lydia steps out of the elevator and immediately opens the door for her, "Mr. Storm has cleared his schedule for you Ms. Bates. Is there anything I can get for you?"

The receptionist then stands and motions for her to follow her to the elevator and presses the button for her before returning to her desk. The elevator doors open and close behind Lydia a moment after she enters.

Lydia laughs softly at the girl as the doors close "silly girl, doesn't think I can push a button"

"Mr. Storm has cleared his schedule for you Ms. Bates. Is there anything I can get for you?"

With a smile " No thank you, I am fine" She walks on in.

She greets Storm with a nod and smile "Hello, how are you this eve?"

Evan stands from his seat behind his desk. He then walks around his desk to greet Lydia offering his hand to her. As she accepts his hand he bows and kisses the top of her hand and speaks, "Ms. Bates, its a pleasure to have you visit. Please sit down?" He pulls out a chair that sits in front of his desk. He'll wait for her to sit and instead of taking his seat behind his desk, he takes the seat adjacent to hers.

He offers a polite smile as he speaks again, "What can I do for you this evening?"

Smiling at his manners she sits down and pulls a notebook and pen out of the bag and sets them on the desk. "Thank you for allowing me to visit on such short notice"

She sits back in the chair and looks at him for a moment "You made a very nice contribution at the gathering last night. I would like to discuss this with you if you don't mind" She smiles as she waits

Evan smiles at her as she brings up his offer. He hadn't expected a visitor so soon if any to come to take him up on the offer. For a moment he finds himself appraising her face as if she were a prospective model, but he catches himself quickly and nods as he speaks, "I'd be more than happy to discuss it."

Grabbing the notebook and opening it "You said you would teach the great ability of clan Ventru to withstand the devastating attacks." Setting the notebook back down she looks at him and smiles "And what will this great favor from you cost us"?

Evan's smile fades. He had already begun to realize that if he answered that question, he'd no doubt be raked over the coals in the public eye, even though favors for favors has always been how their society worked. He looks at her and shrugs, "Let me ask you this. What would an ability that could undoubtedly save your life be worth to you? What would you offer someone who could teach you this ability that could be the difference between surviving a battle and dieing in said battle? I ask because I'm willing to teach however much someone is willing to learn."

Glaring at him for a moment, Lydia then smiles "So it is as I thought, you will only do this to gain something for yourself. Kind of selfish don't you think?"

Laughing at the look he gave when she called him selfish "Ah don't worry, I will not make it a public thing on you being selfish. I was just making a remark"

Grabbing her notebook again she writes something real quick. Looking back to him, "well I would think it a great thing to be taught something I do not know if it were to save my life. But can you guarantee that it would? Would I be able to walk away from an attack on me? Or would it just be a waste of my time?"

Smiling again "What do you really want Storm? I can see it in your eyes, there is a specific something you desire, yet I can't quite tell what it is. I might be persuaded to do a trade but that all depends on what it is you request in return"

Evan looks at her sternly as she refers to him as selfish. He had thought she understood how this society worked, but the more she said, the more he began to think she may not be qualified enough for her position. He says to her in an even, non-offensive tone, "Selfish? Selfish would be not providing others the opportunity to learn. I would think by now you would have learned that this is how our society works. No one does something for free. I'm sure if I asked you to teach me how to hide my presence you would want a favor in return. Its simple. We are predators and we don't make other predators more powerful without something to give us an edge to go with it."

"As for a guarantee, there are no guarantees in this life. I can teach you the tricks, but its up to you to use them and use them right. That comes with experience and training. If what I believe is out there is out there, its better to take as many tricks as possible with you if you want to come back alive. I only offer the knowledge, its up to you to decide if it is worth your time."

He pauses for a moment before addressing your final questions. It had become apparent that she sensed something that he had not realized he was putting out there. He then lets the polite smile return to his face as he asks, "You tell me what you think I want and I'll be honest if your answer is correct."
