Thread: Reflections (6-22-10 Private Scene)

Miranda watched Mackenzie speak, head cocked slightly to one side; could she really be so genuinely kind? Disarmed by the understanding in the other woman's words, Miranda softened.

"I..thank you. It's," she paused, "comforting to have someone understand, to not be as alone as I had thought."

"It wasn't fate that brought me to this city," she opened her mouth as if to say more, but then stopped and swallowed, her throat clenching. Miranda shook her head and tried to smile at Mackenzie. "Thank you for coming, your company was unexpected but I welcome it, you have made me feel a little better."

Mackenzie notes that Miranda was going to say more, but does not press the issue. "I'm glad I could do something...." She smiles slightly. "If you wish me to leave I will...I just couldn't see you standing there and not see if you were okay. I will give you my number if you ever want some company again."

Miranda slides her legs out from beneath her to the floor and steps over to the large mahogany desk that dominates the far wall of the room, plucking something from a crystal holder before returning to the couches. She hands it to Mackenzie, it is a card with the Galerie's information and her number.

"I'm glad you took a moment to stop in, some would not have it. You are welcome to return whenever you should wish it." Here Miranda pauses with a surprising grin, "Apparently the artists of the city are not as capricious as I would have guessed, they still gather downstairs most nights. Life has gone on much as it would have if I had been around, it seems I have good staff."

She takes the Mackenzie's hands and leans in to give the other woman a soft kiss on each cheek, "I will walk you out."

Mackenzie takes the card. When Miranda goes to take her hands, she pulls back quickly and moves to stand. Her eyes a bit wide. "I'm sorry. I've enjoyed our talk and I hope to have more, but I don't like to be touched."

Mackenzie sighs slightly. "I mean no offense." She stands there a moment, concerned she has just lost what they were building. She will start to head out.

Slightly shocked, Miranda pulls back. "I am very sorry, I didn't mean to presume." She drops her hands to her sides and follows as Mackenzie heads to the door. When they reach the large display area, Miranda calls out.

"Mackenzie wait. I'm very sorry if I offended you, I hope you won't think poorly of me. I enjoyed your company and hope that you return some night."

Mackenzie stops and turns when Miranda calls her name. Her expression is a mixture of relief and slight frustration. "Miranda, you did not offend me. I was worried of offending you."

She shakes her head, a slight smile on her face as she looks at Miranda. "We all have baggage....the one thing I will ask of you is not to touch me without permission and please do not use any abilities on me without permission. If you can agree to that, then I would love to come back and talk again soon."

She looks at the door and then back to Miranda. "If that is not possible, then I won't waste either of our times."

"Yes of course, Mlle., my earlier presumption was my own fault. I hope that you enjoy the rest of your evening".

She stands well away, giving the Gangrel her space and when the other woman has gone Miranda sighs softly, watching the street for a few moments before turning away.

Mackenzie smiles and nods. "All forgiven then. I will do my best to enjoy the rest of my night....if you will do the same." She looks at Miranda. "I have enjoyed our time and will call again soon."

She nods once more before heading out into the night and down the street.
