Thread: Good Company (attn: Miranda) 11/04/2009

Miranda looks up mid-laugh from her position on the couch. A tall, green-eyed kine had one arm around her, and the two of them were in a small group, clearly enjoying themselves.

Seeing Lord Storm, she rises and steps towards him holding out her hand, palm down, in greeting. "Welcome back, monsier" she says in a laughing, musical voice. Tonight she is wearing a white Carolina Herrera dress, sleevless with a very low neckline. It is belted above the waist with a decorative gold chain. She also has gold at her throat and wrists. Her hair is unbound as usual, falling in loose waves down her back.

Evan takes her hand as it is offered and bows as he raises her hand to his lips and kisses the top of her hand softly, though never breaking eye contact with her. He smiles as he lowers her hand, leaving it in his hand slightly longer than most would. When he speaks his voice seems to have a mesmerizing effect to it, "Lady Montreve, wild horses could not keep me away from coming to see you for long. I only regret that I have not had the chance to come back sooner." He offers her a warm and seemingly slightly apologetic smile for his absence.

She smiles at him and inclines her head. She offers her arm and leads him back to the small group she was sitting with, gesturing for him to make himself comfortable, she slides back into her vacated spot. Tucking her legs underneath her, she looks at Lord Storm. "I am most pleased to hear that you enjoyed yourself milord, short as the time was. My apologies again for the abruptness of my departure." Her eyes drift to a tall, curvaceous blonde who is looking with great interest at Evan. "Kataline, this is Lord Evan Storm". She nods to the rest of the small group as well. "He is new to this city and it is my wish that you make him feel at home and welcome".

Evan looks at the curvacious blonde appraisingly and inclines his head to her, as an invitation to sit with him. He then returns his attention to Miranda and smiles softly at her as he speaks, "It is quite understandable. I myself, felt a little uncomfortable from some of the posturing. I hope that I did not offend you in any way. I was hoping to take you up on your offer to get to know Lamar together, if the invitation is still open."

"You are too kind, monsieur. I do have to apologize once again for my forewardness that night, surely there is nothing someone of my status could offer one venerable such as yourself." She smiles in a self deprecating manner.

Evan mocks taking offense to her statement. The truth was, when it came to the company of a beautiful woman, her standing was irrelevant. The way she carries herself was everything. He spoke enchantingly, but also in a tone that was genuine, "Lady Montreve, I assure you, you have many fine qualities that someone such as myself find admirable and pleasing. Please do not sell yourself too short. You are an exquisite woman and I would be honored to continue enjoying your good company."

One of the black-clad attendants comes by and offers everyone fresh drinks. Miranda takes a glass of honey colored champagne and twirls it around as the rest of the group helps themselves. Above the rim of the glass, Miranda gives Evan a wink as she takes a sip. The servant moves off and everyone once again settles themself in place, the low murmer of their conversation resumes.

To Lord Storm she says, "In that case I confess myself most curious, to what event, or in what manner might my company please you milord?"

Evan smiles at her genuinely. Part of him wanted to just snatch her up and make her his and only his, but the old fashioned side told him to take it slow and casual. He dismissed the servant offering drinks when it was offered to him. He then turned back to answer her question, "For now, I would be honored to just take a walk with you in the city. You mentioned not being very familiar with the city and I am not very familiar either, so perhaps we can take a walk sometime and get to know the city and each other."

The tall, green eyed man at her side growled softly, his eyes narrowed in suspicion focused on Evan. Quickly, with a hint of alarm in her manner, Miranda shook her head, a warning in her eyes when she glanced at him. Letting her hair shield her face she whispered, "Please, you mustn't offend this man."

Turning her head and focusing her attention back on Lord Storm, she says with a slightly pained look on her face, "They get ... attached, we mean no offense".
