Thread: "Plainsong" 12.19.2009 ATN: Miranda, any welcome Toreador

A female receptionist with a lilting voice answers the phone and when you ask her about an appointment she says, "One moment please" and you hear the sound of precise fingers on a keyboard. After a brief pause she is back on the line, "I am sorry but Miss Montreve is not available for tonight. I can keep tomorrow's schedule clear for you if that is alright?"

"Thank you, no. You've been most helpful. Please give Miss Montreve my regards."

Benjamin Walker will call the front desk of the Galerie. He will ask if Miranda has any available openings this evening for a personal meeting.

It is the same girl from the previous evening who answers the call, "Oh hello again, Mr. Walker! Miss Montreve was most apologetic that she was unavailable to you before and I was told to make sure you knew you could stop by to meet her whenever you wish. Shall I have her expect you tonight?"

"Tonight would be perfect. Thank you."

"I will let her know right away that you called and to expect you. Is there anything else I can help you with?"

"Thank you, no. You have been very helpful."

Later:
Benjamin will arrive at the Galerie wearing a well-tailored gray suit. His usual scruffy beard is trimmed neatly, though his short-cropped hair is still a bit messy. He waits patiently for the receptionist to address him.

As the receptionist is stepping around the desk to greet the guest, Miranda walks around the corner and waves the girl away. She is wearing a comfortably elegant bohemian dress made of soft egyptian cotton. ((pic)) Her dark sable sable hair is loose down her back and provides a stark contrast to her pale skin and cream clothes.

She takes dainty, graceful steps towards Benjamin and smiles warmly at him, extending her hand in greeting. "I'm so pleased that you've come for a visit, would you like to go downstairs and enjoy the atmosphere? There is a but a small group present tonight and the party is subdued and quiet; we would have ample opportunity to speak privately."

Benjamin takes the offered hand gently, smiling at Miranda as she speaks. "I would like that very much. It has been too long since we've had the opportunity to speak openly."
