Thread: A Time to Die (follow up to Happy Birthday)

Sophia smiles when the doctor says that Kirsi will be fine, but the smile fades as she looks to the dead girl in Tino’s arms. She hugs the boy to her, watching as Emilia tells Tino of her love, before reaching out her hand. Sophia let her mouth fall when she realized what Emilia was doing. She looks in between the baby girl and her brother, trying to understand how she is supposed to act.

Alastair looks confused at what is going on around him, he looks to sophia and then to Constantino. Alastair opens his mouth as if to say something then thinks better of it.

what the bloody hell is going on?

Alastair moves between the family and the door returning his attention toward the door to keep watch as requested.

Tino sits silently beside Kirsi, willing the baby back to life, to no avail. He shakes his head as the doctor speaks refusing to give up. He rubs the bridge of his nose, as he is known to do in stressful situations.

Heaing Emelia's words he looks up just in time to see her reach out for the child. He almost senses what she intends to do. Shaking his head, no sound comes from his lips as he mouths the word "non" over and over again. Emelia disappears into the child and his eyes clinch.

As the child comes to life in his cold hands, he quickly reaches for a towel to wrap her. He looks up to the doctor, who must surely be shocked and reaching for his stethiscope. Handing the girl, off to him, he watches with one eye. Glancing at Kirsi fading from her labors, he opens his wrist and holds it to her mouth as we watches the doctor inspect the reborn.

The doctor held the female child in his hands, listening to her heart, examining every inch of her with a wonder in his eyes. "It's a miracle." He whispers. "She ... she was..." He shakes his head, pushing the thought from his mind just as Kirsi begins to gain consciousness from having fed on Constantino's blood.

Blinking the young mother smiled up at Constantino. "I'm sorry, I must have fallen asleep. I had this wonderful dream..." Looking towards her children her smile grew impossibly big. Reaching for her son she motioned for Sophia to bring him close so that she could see him.

"He's so pale." She remarked in awe. Kissing his forehead as Sophia held him she whispered, "Constantino Augustus Giovanni." She looked briefly at Constantino, to see his reaction and then back to the baby explaining, "For your father and... if he'll have you... your godfather."

Looking to the girl she repeated the motion. The doctor, still in shock, numbly repeated Sophia's action. Kissing the girl she whispered, "Emelia," she again looked to Constantino. "because I dreamed she came back ... to help me."

Looking back to the baby she repeated, "Emelia Marie Giovanni."

Constantino smiles and helps support the baby. "I'd be honored Kirsi. And you are right, Emelia did come back to help you." Sorrow fills his face again for the briefest moment before he forces a smile back onto it.

"Should I take her inside?" The ghoul stepped forward to ask.

"I'm so tired, I don't think I could walk a step." Kirsi remarked.

"I'll carry you." He smiled.

"Thank all of you for being here with me." She looked to Alastair. "Even those of you I don't think I've had a lot of chances to get to know." She offers up her hand. "I'm Kirsi Giovanni."

Alastair looks around confused at the events that have unfolded before him. Realizing that Kirsi is speaking to him Alastair turns his attention to her while adjusting his sunglasses.

Alastair smiles taking her hand gingerly and bowing slightly, “It is my pleasure, Alastair Giovanni at your service mia signora. I am sure we will have plenty of opportunities to become better acquainted once you have slept and regained your strength.”

Alastair looks to Constantino and then to Sophia, "Shall we take the new mother and her children into the house? This chilling cold is no place for them."

Sophia walks to the house, standing in front of Alastair, but behind Tino, she glares at anyone who approaches her.

She walks into Kirsi's room, watching as the ghoul lays Kirsi on the bed. Sophia walks to a chair in the corner and sits down, keeping the baby with her.

She talks to the boy in a voice that no one can over hear "You look like a doll I had once. His name was Michelangelo. You don't look like a Constantino, no, you are Michelangelo." She strokes the boys head lovingly.

"Little Michelangelo. I will take good care of you, Il mio bambolotto."
