Thread: Saving Grace.... (ATTN: First Two Respondants, 8/31/10)

Kei risks a glance behind her, letting out a relieved sigh once she realizes she was no longer being followed. She was half afraid she was going to have to hulk out before they decided to leave her alone.

She continues walking around the block, trying to find a path back to Cassil and Grace that wouldn't lead anyone to them. Seeing the lights of the gas station, she hesitates.

Hell, might as well see if there's anything in here that can break a chain.

Moving into the gas station, she's greeted by a little chime at the doorway, announcing her presence. She takes a few seconds to look around the store, trying to find something that might help the Grace situation. She has a little bit of cash on her, but not too much. Considerably less than she'd had earlier before she'd bought the camera she was planning on scrapping.

As Keilanni browses the gas station she quickly realizes that there is nothing here that is going to be helpful, aside from maybe a candybar for Grace. As she ponders the problem she comes to the conclusion that the walmart down the street is open 24 hours and was sure to have to have some bolt cutters. At least she didn't have to pass those guys again to get to the store!

Kei bites her lip as she finishes circling the gas station. She was really hoping that there'd be something useful, but had figured there wouldn't be. Grabbing a soda and bringing it to the counter, Kei checks the time on her phone while she's being rung up. Grace's Dad didn't get off for a little while yet, but she was hesitant to leave Grace alone for too long. Sliding a bill to the cashier, Kei takes her change and walks out, opening the soda and taking a few gulps.

After mulling it over in her head a bit, she starts walking to the Wal-Mart.

Sounded like Grace was calming down when I was heading up here. Just hope she can keep her cool for a little longer.

As Keilanni enters the Wal-Mart she notices it is mostly empty of customers except for a bum who is obviously just trying to spend some time in climate control, a woman spanking her four year old child, and several college age kids all discussing what bottle of alcohol to buy.

After dealing with any of these other patrons or skipping past all of them, Keilanni is in luck as she enters the tool department, as the bolt cutters are on sale this week.

Kei grins as she finds the bolt cutters, glad they weren't going to cost as much as she had originally thought. Hefting a likely looking pair, she moves back to the front registers, aimlessly wandering around to see if there was anything else she needed. Bouncing on the balls of her feet for a moment, she finally decides to grab a small, 1gb flash card for the camera in her pocket. Swiping some cheap batteries as well, Kei moves to the register and sets everything on the counter. As the cashier rings up her items, Keilani looks over the snacks, eventually grabbing a snickers bar, a couple of airheads, and another soda. She grimaces at the total, but pulls the money out of her pocket and hands it over. As she gets her change and starts to leave, she wonders about the return policy on bolt cutters. She was fairly certain she was only going to have to use the things once.

Once outside, Kei takes a moment to open the memory card and the batteries, sliding them both into the camera. Pocketing the spare batteries, she moves off down the street, mentally attempting to map a route back to the others that wouldn't involve her passing by any more random sleazebags. The handle for the bolt cutters sticks up noticeably from the bag as she walks, but she tries to appear nonchalant with them.

Kelanni makes her way back to the car lot without any difficulty, seeing Cassil still trying to talk with Grace, and Grace still being shy and uncooperative.

A relieved sigh escapes Kei's lips as she returns to the others, glad to see that nothing seemed amiss and that Grace appeared to have calmed down. Setting the Wal-Mart bag down, she takes a moment to grab her laptop case, removing her goggles and slinging them over her head. She takes a few seconds to adjust them so that her hair was out of the way, then sets the laptop case down. Picking up the Wal-Mart bag, Kei rummages through it, pulling out the snickers bar, airheads, and the soda before turning back to look at Grace.

"Heya, feeling any better, Grace?" she holds out the snacks and grins, "I didn't know what you liked, so I just grabbed things at random. You hungry?"

She glances sideways at Cassil as she offers Grace the snacks, "Anything happen while I was gone?"

Grace gives Keilanni a half smile and eyes the candy shyly. It is evident that her leg is completely healed but she is still very wary of Cassil. She looks around the lot as if she would run away if she could, obviously uncomfortable.

Finally she shakes her head at Keilanni "No, nothing happened. I was just asking her" Grace points at Cassil, "what she is and how she can fix my leg like that."
