My favorite vacation was going to Ireland on our honeymoon. We went for ten days and went south from Shannon, down around the coast, ending up in Dublin, and then back across to Shannon. It was awesome, the weather was beautiful for us, not so much for the Irish. It was like 85 most of the time and they were dying. The look on some of the locals faces when we told them that it was 112 that day back home was priceless. I think some of them wondered if we actually lived on the edge of hell. We got to see lots of ruins and our tour guide was phenomenal with his stories, whether they were true or not who could tell, but he told them so well you wanted to believe them. We say Blarney Castle and kissed the Blarney stone. We got to see the Book of Kells up close. The one downside is that Ireland was so well converted to Catholicism that if you go there looking for stuff about Druids or the old mythology it is very hard to find. Other than that, if you ever get a chance to go, I would recommend it.
