Prayer Vigil for the Bereaved of The Indigo(The Red Eye weekly:The Sitting Room Weekly Column)

By Anne Brown

Hello again, gentle readers. And welcome to The Sitting Room. I hope this day finds you well.

Today we are speaking to Bishop Anthony Powers of the Ozark Diocese; Bishop Powers is also the Chairman and Founder of the Lamar Interfaith Council.

Bishop Powers, it is very nice of you to join us today.

The Bishop smiled and raised his hands in prayer, so thoughtful! “Anne, may God bless you and keep you. I thank you dearly for giving me, a humble messenger of the Lord, a moment of your time to spread his word.”

Thank you very much, Bishop. The Lord knows that now -a- days we need all the blessings we can get. Your Excellency, could you please tell us about this Interfaith Council and about the city wide prayer that you and this organization are going to be holding for those innocent souls that were taken from this earth in the fire at Club Indigo.

"Of course, Anne. The Lamar Interfaith Council is a caring organization that assists and supports people in need through staff-volunteer partnerships, congregations, individuals and community coalitions. We want to promote human dignity, and the power of community through our shared bonds of Faith and the concern for our fellow humanity."

Bishop Powers bowed his head for a second of prayer, “Regarding the City Wide Day of Prayer, a few months ago, a local business, The Club Indigo, went up in a fiery conflagration. The fire raged on and smoke filled the building in the area with thick black smoke. The poor souls that died that evening were taken away from this earth and now sit with God in heaven leaving behind not just victims of the fire, but hose who find that they have lost the ones they love. It is time that the people of the city start to care about each other, not just the people that protect them but even their fellow citizens. It is in that we at the Lamar Interfaith Council saw fit to organize this Day of Vigil and fund raising for the families of the lost souls.”

He smiled serenely and continued to talk. “We would like to thank all of those that have already donated. I would personally like to thank the anonymous donor that pledged $1000 to the fund and was one of the first donations received. The love of God is with that person or persons and I truly thank you.”

That is great news, your Grace. When will these Masses be held?

“<list of times and names of several churches, synagogues, a mosque and a Buddhist temple>, I hope that the city of Lamar will be one voice calling to the grace of Heaven to guide us all.”

Thank you for join me today, Your Grace, and I know that I will be joining you that evening.

“The pleasure is all mine, Anne. May God shine his forgiving light on you.”

And may you, my darling readers, find the Grace you need to continue on until we meet again, in the Sitting Room.
