Lawson pleads guilty to Manslaughter charge

Attorneys for Det Terrence Lawson entered a Guilty plea to one count of Manslaughter in superior court here in Lamar this morning. Det. Lawson was charged in the April death of Tony Rodriguez, a convicted felon, recently on parole from a firearms smuggling charge.

Juanita Rodriguez, the victim’s mother, told the Lamar Morning Times “That man should be put to death for taking my baby from me. The Lord will not forgive him for taking another man’s life in his hand.”

An initial hearing for sentencing has been set for Friday, May 7th.
