Law Enforcement Studies enrollment jumps after Academy Grant
By Kevin Lynn
Summer is typically a time for thoughts of school and books to fade in favor of sun and beach parties. But for dozens of young men and women enrolling in the MSU Law Enforcement Studies program, summer not only spells School, it spells opportunity to enter their chosen field at a fraction of the cost.
“Summer enrollment for the LES catalog has jumped nearly 35% this year, thanks to a private grant made available for this program.” Occupation Services Dean Howard Smith told the Morning Times. “Some students are coming in with a nearly 50% break on their tuition through this Grant. It’s outstanding; we couldn’t be more pleased to help provide this valuable resource to the community.”
“We’re delighted to see this much interest in the very rewarding career of Law Enforcement.” Police Chief Markus Hilderman said in response to today’s news. “Any time you increase the pool of qualified applicants to the police force, the quality of that pool gets better. This is a very uplifting sign for today’s times.”
