Meth Lab Catches Fire (Morning-Times 2-17-10)
By: Kevin Lynn
Four alarm fire breaks out in a condemned, and thought, abandoned project building in Marshal Pit this evening 9:00pm local time. The blaze could be seen almost a mile away as the red hot flames reached skyward. Fire fighters had to be very careful due to the poor condition the building was already in and thankfully none of them where injuried.
The fire was started by the illegal creation of the drug call Meth., said Fire Marshal Gary Hitchcock. He did also say that confirmation of that should be provided shortly. These Meth labs are very unstable and can become a very explosive problem due to the chemicals that are used. Hitchcock added later.
The LFD believes that there were no injuries or fatalities at this time.
As for those responsible for this, Sgt. Luke Hogard, did say We currently have a person of interest in custody and we will be questioning that person to see what information they can provide.
Hogard added, It is good people like our anonymous caller that reported the fire that make all the difference in this city. We all need to do our part to keep our city safe.
