Thread: Goodbye: Shadow Goes Home (atn: Samara)

(oc: I know I'm making a few assumptions here and this took longer than expected but I didn't want Jim's story to just disappear so, I hope the STs and players will bear with me a bit.)

Tala and Samara had cared for Shadows body and cleaned it up as good as anyone really could have before making arrangements to take him home to his extended family and tribemates.

She had been here once before, after discovering him as a lost cub among the ruins of the kinfolk settlement outside of the lost Uktena Cairin in Colorado, it was where she brought him for his education. Once again she'd be leaving him... but this time, for the last time ever.

The 30 year old Silver Fang wore her shame and sorrow at the loss like the custom tailored suit she wore... heavy on her shoulders. She wished she could tell him she knew how he had died or what his last words might have been... to bring them comfort, but she had no idea. Rage had consumed her and last she'd seen the old man... he'd been smiling and laugh at her. A stupid car... how could I have lost it over my car?

She had called ahead, his grandchildren would know she was coming. His oldest, Shadow had told her, was showing signs of his first change coming on for a few weeks now. While Shadow's children had been all killed in the taking of the Uktena cairn by Banes (an event that brought on the old man's first change) that made the boy the responsible party to recieve him. The kid had been just that when she last saw him, when she held him in her arms and dried his tears as they escaped that hell on that fateful night that she lost the last of her previous pack, Winter's Flame.

Was it always going to be this way? Were the other tribes right about Silver Fang leadership? Had she failed, again, to protect those who were in her charge... it sure as hell felt that way. Once again time had brought her to a point that she was nearly the only surviving member of her pack... grimly she looked to Samara. Maybe I should chase her off... we all know the risks fighting the Wyrm but odds of survival around me lately seem pretty slim. She'd do better to not endure the shame I'll have when we return to Road Kill Range.

At the edge of the bawn she looks to Samara and says very quietly, "Not much further the warders should stop us."

With that, she will walk around to the back of the air conditioned trailer she had towed behind her car and check on Shadow's body. Sure that he is safe and secure she reconsiders. "On second thought... maybe you should stay here with him... an honor guard. I don't want them thinking that we left him laying around without a care. I'll let them know we're here." What she didn't add was that she'd face whatever ass kicking might be required as well.
