A presence in Kendov's mind made itself known and the ring on his hand felt warm with energy. The voice came to him as feral but female none the less.

kendovs eyes widened as the femenine voice resounded through his mind. he dropped low to the ground looking around for the speaker even though he well knew there was no one around.

who is this . he thought even though the answer was easy but the implications made his stomach turn and he felt queezy.

she left out of nowhere, ive never seen her since. how do i know this is her. dread began to creep into his thoughts. with everything that had happened in the city having voices in his head was probably the worst thing possible right now.

In his mind he could feel there there still even as the nothingness of the earth enfolded him. He could see his wife's face then, the full face of the moon shining on her as she ran from the river to their hut laughing. He could see himself chasing her, happier... alive. The scene seemed to be watched by someone from a nearby thicket.

"You were different then. Can you accept that time has perhaps changed us both?" There is a long pause and the cold blackness of the earth's vastness helps the pain and uncertainty seem smaller somehow, as if he can be sure of the rock and earth around him even if all else is madness.

i have always done what had to be done even in my mortal life. you saw my rise to leader of my village ive grown with nothing but trials. i do not fear death in duty to protect those i cherish but this sect is full of liars willing to hang anyone trying to do what needs to be done no matter of social standing. i do not understand why it has become this way i only woke recently to find our kind mincing words and using them to destroy. its not as simple as it was in my time. they would rather play with words than work together to save us all.

i have always survived mother. and i will through this as well i just wonder if they are worth being saved
