She returns home to hear someone rummaging through the kitchen, thinking it was just one of the band members she doesn't pay too much attention until she hears something familiar. She walks into the kitchen to see her father looking around.
"Aye Corin luv. 'ave ya got anythin' ta eat? I'm starved."
Corin can only stand there and look at her father as he pulls out a box of fruit loops, pours then into a bowl, pours some milk on them and starts to eat.
"So ya don' mind if I stay here a a couple of days do ya? I can' t seem ta find me keys. In fact...I don' remember how I got 'ere. I musta been drinkin' last night."
"I'd say so, since we're in America and not Ireland."
"Well that musta been a bender."
He puts the bowl of cereal down stating that he is still hungry. He looks in the cupboards again and finding some potato soup he fixes it up and eats. She aura percepts him and shakes her head.
"Daddy? What are ya doin' 'ere?"
"Can't a father come an see 'is little girl?"
"Well yes, but I haven't seen you since I was eleven."
"Has it been that long? Well ya've grown up ta be a right woman. Ya've got a good set there too...but don't let yer ma see ya dressed like that."
Corin finally sits down and stares at him in total disbelief.
"Like I said Lass, I dinae rightly know..." He pulls digs out a bag of chips from a bread box and begins munching on the contents. "But na that I am 'ere why din ya catch me up on yer life a bit? I wanna 'ear all about whatcha been up ta since we last spoke."
"Well, I went ta Africa and lived with gramps fer a few years. After that it was off ta Italy and France. Spent lots o time in Europe. Then again, none of that woulda happened if ya and ma hadn't of died."
His eyes narrow at the mention of her mother dying. He looks like he's been hit in the face for a moment and then his eyes find something low and to the left of her to look at.
"Yer... Ma..." He whispers the words, a frown pulls at the corner of his mouth. Anger rises in his eyes and slowly he shakes his head 'no.'
"It wasnae good, was it?" His mouth hangs open just a little bit, and the lines of pain begin to show on his face. To his credit he bites it back and nods to your request for him to follow you.
Taking a hand full of chips with him he follows where you lead, his mind clearly still lingering on the question of what happened to your mother.
She takes his free hand, leads him to the recording studio, then has him sit down. She pushes a few buttons and plays back one of the songs that she and the band had been working on.
(( Lauren, somehow I missed your post, my apologizes, I thought I was waiting on you still ))
Her dad nods, but continues to look thoughtful, as if he can't understand what's going on or how he got here. In the other room she can hear him groan in pain but he says nothing. A second later you hear him banging around looking for food again and in frustration he throws something. As you come back down to the room where he was searching for food you find him curled up in a ball on the floor rocking gently.
"What's wrong with me?" He cries without tears, looking at Corin for answers.
