Thread: Keep it Secret, Keep it Safe (atn: Calhoun only)

Calhoun emerges from the shadows with a smile for Miranda. He is wearing his normal button down green shirt, slacks, and his trench coat and white sneakers. His fedora sits a little lopsided on his head as he walks towards the car door.

"Going my way?" He asks as he delftly opens the door and slides into the passenger seat.

She watched him get in the car, a grin tugging at the corner of her lips. "Let's hope so," she quips in response to his greeting. The inside of the vehicle smells faintly of her white jasmine perfume and soft strains of violin can be heard coming from the radio. Miranda's slender, bare legs emerge from her half-buttoned coat and hints of a yellow sheer material can be seen underneath. She reaches up to flick off the overhead light, catching his eye as she does so with a loving smile that revealed a little of her excitement.

As the light dims, she faces forward once more, reaching down to grasp the shift and brushing his hand with her own as she does so. Miranda eases the car through gears, picking up speed and taking them towards the edge of the city. She speaks softly to him in conversation as they drive towards her destination. "It seems the Rose has almost withered and died while I was away, Ash called a meeting of the family and we were the only two there. He seemed disturbed but the end result was the same, I've been named Speaker again."

Calhoun is quiet, considering and finally after a few moments asks, "Does it make you happy to lead your family?"

Miranda lifts her shoulders in a slight shrug, "I'm not sure honestly. So many things have changed, but I will serve as needed."

She keeps her eyes on the road for a long time and they pass out of the city into the rural surroundings. "Almost there," she says to him.

"I did have one other piece of news, Emma has asked me to accompany her on a trip to Venice sometime in the next few days. I'm not sure of the details, but I expect her to call soon."

"There?" He says with a hint of curosity.

"Venice... oh... yes, of course. Well, she trusted the right woman. Be careful though. The Giovanni may act gracious but they are depraved and violent people with no limit to the disturbing and morally questionable things they find acceptable. They will probably bargin hard with you and Bill for the right for Constantino and Emma to be happy together. Just don't give more than you're honestly willing to pay." He smiles, seeming to be sure that she will do just fine on her trip.

"I'll be happy to see you and Bill off at the airport the night you leave, if you like."

Miranda's grip on the wheel gets tighter and she frowns slightly, considering his words about the Giovanni. When he finishes and smiles, she relaxes and looks to him, "I appreciate your advice and wisdom mon coeur." When he speaks of seeing them off at the airport, her smile widens and she lifts her hand from the stick to brush the back of his with her thumb. "I would like that very much actually."

As she finishes speaking they pull in sight of an old silo which is swarming with human activity. There are large mover's trucks, electrician's vans and many kine busy at work. Miranda cuts the lights on her own vehicle and pulls to a stop at a low rise near the site far enough away that they can remain unnoticed observers. She turns to him with a grin that hides nothing of her rekindled excitement and pulls forth an old leather book from her coat, handing it to him. "Have you ever seen the inside of a missile silo?" she asks him playfully.

Calhoun looks a little worried. "No... typically Bill doesn't like us being around military establishments due to the likelihood of us being discovered by the government but," He seems to relax as his eyes linger on the humans a bit longer.

"... I don't see a single uniform officer here. I presume, Miss Montreve, that you have a surprise up your pretty little sleeve." He sighs. "Very well, let's see how you've outdone yourself tonight, shall we?"

"Well, Bill can rest assured. The place has been long abandoned and neglected... 'til now." Miranda kills the engine of the Vantage and turns to open her door, slipping her legs out and standing upright.

She walks towards the front of the car, waiting for him to join her before speaking. "It's very much like your home down there. I haven't had the chance to explore it fully yet, but there is a vast system of tunnels and rooms." She waves a hand at the workers, "I'm having them renovate a small portion of it. About a third of the space will become what I hope to be a very luxurious haven. The rest of it..." she trails off and looks to him. "Well, I'm hoping someone very dear to me will have ideas for it and consider it his."
