Thread: Keeping Busy (att:anyone)

Mackenzie's eyes swept the street as she headed to the homeless shelter she had helped out at before. She didn't know if it was the increase in the Anarch population in the city, the mayor's new plans, or...she shuddered to think of her nightmare, but the streets were quiet. It was a warmer night and Mackenzie's blue jeans and grey t-shirt was just right for the weather.

Stepping inside the homeless shelter, Mackenzie noted that there appeared to be even less homeless in here then before. She frowns slightly and walks up to the man behind the counter. Mackenzie smiles at him, "Good evening, sir, I helped out here several nights ago and would like to do the same tonight. If you'll have me."

A faint look of recognition passes his face, "Oh, yes, you were here with a big group of people last time, right?"

Mackenzie smiles. "Yes, but tonight it's just me. I can't promise anything, but these two hands."

The man nods. "Of course, any help is welcomed." He takes her back to the kitchen. "There are always dishes and then prep to do." He smiles. "There are more potatoes to be sliced if you are so inclined."

Mackenzie chuckles slightly. "I will start off with the dishes and then move on to the potatoes if that's alright." She walks over and starts running the water.

The man nods. "Holler if you need anything." He heads back up front.

Mackenzie fills the basin with soapy water and fills it with dirty dishes. As she scrubs at the cooked on food, it reminded her of when she would scrub on the benches and the bathrooms when she was getting the Station cleaned up. Manual labor was always a way for Mackenzie to keep her mind and body occupied and in this instance she could help people at the same time.

Mackenzie spends several hours cleaning up the kitchen and preparing food for the shelter and then leaves.
