Wandering New Surroundings (attn: Gangrels) 2/12/2010
The night was cool but clear. The night sky sparkled above with the twinkle of the many stars that were visible from within Prairie State Park. A light breeze rustled what few leaves remained on the trees and the only sound beyond that emanated from sticks breaking under the footsteps of a man that was new to these parts.
He was dressed in blue jeans and a black shirt. He also wore sturdy hiking shoes and a black fleece sweater jacket. Lastly, he wears a straw cowboy hat, with shells around the center. His hair is dark and he wears a short beard, more scruff than a beard though.
He pauses as he comes to a clearing in the woods. He squats down and rolls back onto the ground and lays flat on his back, taking his hat off in the process. He takes a deep breath as he takes in the view of the stars. Stargazing was something that had always been refreshing to him and it had become a bit of a tradition for him to go stargazing his first night in a new town.
-
A young woman, the apparent age of eighteen, walks into the clearing. Her brown hair is straight and touches her shoulders. Her clothing consists of worn blue jeans, a grey sweatshirt, and white tennis shoes. She is staring up at the sky intently as she walks and nearly trips over the man in the grass.
"Oh, I'm sorry." Her blue eyes widen with surprise. She smiles and takes a few steps back. "I didn't realize anyone else was out here."
-
He smiles up at her widely, as he noted the sparkle in her blue eyes as the moon reflected off of them. He then stood slowly so as not to alarm her. He nods politely to her and speaks in a soothing tone, "I apologize for not noticing your approach and making you aware of my presence. I was just engaged in staring at the stars. From what I can tell, too engaged in them."
He offers his hand to her in a friendly gesture and says, "I am A.J. but that is short for Aidan James Forsythe, it is a pleasure to meet you."
-
The young woman smiles and nods. "I love to watch the stars." She looks at his hand and her smile fades. "I apologize, but I'm not the hand shaking type." She looks him in the eyes. "It is nice to meet you A.J., my name is Mackenzie Steward. What brings you to the beautiful outdoors tonight?"
-
A.J. is only slightly offended by the rejection of his handshake, but doesn't let it show. He looks back at the stars and smiles again. He says quietly, "The stars call to me when I move somewhere new. So, when I arrive in a new city, I find a good and dark place to stretch out and just watch the stars and hope for a few of the shooting variety. That and I hope to find an occasional *wanderer* like myself."
-
Mackenzie smile widens when he says wanderer. "Sounds like you came to the right place. I'm pretty new in town myself, but I can introduce you to some of the others that enjoy our mutual past time."
She sits down on the grass and cocks her head. "What area did you come from, if you don't mind me asking?"
-
A.J. stays quiet for a moment as he thinks about the question she had just asked. It had been 23 years since he really had settled down in one spot. He hadn't lived anywhere since as a permanent residence since he had lived in Boston. He turns his gaze to her and sits down adjacent to her and says, "I came her via Tulsa, but the last place I really would have called home as in a permanent residence was Boston. That was 23 years ago."
-
Mackenzie chuckles to herself. "Permanent residence..." She shakes her head. "Sorry, thinking to myself." She stares up at the sky as she leans back on her hands. "There's actually been quite a few new people to town recently. Makes some people jumpy." She looks at A.J. with an innocent expression on her face. "Are you a good guy or a bad guy, A.J.?" Her tone is cavalier, but A.J. can tell she is trying to ask something specific.
-
A.J. smiles at her as she asks the question. He could sense the intent in it, but he also knew well that such a question can mean more than the context to it. He looks back at the stars and says, "That depends on whose perception of me you're going off of. If you're a...." He looks around to be sure there isn't any prying ears of the mortal kind before continuing, "If you're a Sabbat, I'm definitely the bad guy. If you're a member of the Tower, I'm a good guy, friend and ally."
-
Mackenzie nods. "Good guy." She makes a face. "There have been problems in town with the bad guys coming to town. Have you been proven?"
(OOC: She is asking if he has proven himself to an Archon)
