Weighing the dead...

As the chill sets into the air again, a low and mournful howl carries itself across the wind. A large moving shadow crosses the terrain like the shadow of a cloud overhead. Miles are crossed like seconds sped upon the clockface until they arrive at this place, the Range.

Five of them take a moment of pause before stepping across the threshold and then make their way, following the scent of Kyphi to the Tech cabin.

One of them, an older gentleman moves to the door and knocks.

Another, lithe and comely, traces something in the air as her solid black eyes peer around, her head cocking every other moment in a birdish fashion.

A third shifts to lupus again and begins a low bellowing song of sadness and begins draging his paw into the ground, drawing glyphs around the cabin.

The fourth begins to set the canopic jars upon the porch and preparing some sort of rite...

The last seems to watch guard, ceremoniously...

Melanie answers the door wearing her usual jammie pants and green "Choose Your Weapon" t-shirt. She looks up at the stranger at her door with confusion.

"I'm sorry, if you're looking for Drahcir, he's not back yet. They went to go check out some big nasty in Springfield."

She smiles at the man in a friendly manner "But if you want to come in and have some steak while you wait, that's cool."

He listens to her words with a fatherly smile and a soft demeanor. He speaks in return with a cockney accent, "And you must be Melanie...He wasnt kidding, love. You are like a shinin' beam o' the sun. perhaps a spot of tea would do these old bones some good. Put the kettle on, yeah? We've got some talking ta do."

He turns to the others who work fastideously at their tasks and gives them a shout, "Oi..." they look up and meet his eyes, knowing what his gaze is for. While performing their tasks, they begin to move closer and closer to teh porch of the cabin....waiting....

Melanie smiles brightly and moves aside so the man can come in.

"Sure! I think I have some decent tea here somewhere..."

He slowly moves into the cabin, taking in the sights and breathing deeply, catching the tell tale scent of Kyphi. His smile is one of courtesy, but something else clearly weighs his soul down. It's never easy, he thinks to himself. Maybe this time it'll be better.

"Melanie dear, have a sit." He looks at her with such warmth, maybe trying to warm himself. "We wont be here long, love. We've come to...we've come to take him home."

As the canopic jars are set in order, the man speaks in the dead tongue and holds each one to the sky, speaking long dead phrases. Digging into his pack, he brings out a plastic sac with flower petals stuffed into it. He begins taking handfuls out and dropping them around the cabin.

As he walks, muttering the old tongue, he looks about, seeing the young man by the fire...

he nods respectfully and continues...

Shawn returns the nod and carefully approaches, but doesn't interfere. He watches intently.

The man stops for a moment and turns to the young man...He seems to regard the boy before him and holds out a handful of petals to him...

"Did you know him?"
