“About A Girl”
Harpy’s Report, 10.17.2009
October 2009 has already been a most interesting month, in both the literal and Chinese-curse sense of the phrase. As I drive through Lamar Heights, the flood waters from last weekend are receding, the leaves on the trees turn blood red and rustic orange, and the vampires – well, the vampires are an ever-lasting fixture.
Some of you may have noticed that Tamas is no longer delivering this report to you. And this begins my first scandal report for the month! It has been said that he was using an unacknowledged Ravnos as a lesser Harpy, which displeased the Primogen to no end. Upon hearing this, they quickly banded together to remove Tamas from the Harpy position. When approached with this news, I humbly offered my services. My very own Primogen, Kalie, rallied the Primogen yet again for, from what I’ve been told, was a lively debate regarding the Harpy office. I was summoned to them, and after close scrutiny, was voted in, unanimously, by the council. For this, you have my thanks.
And on that note, I must offer this disclaimer. There will be times where my reports focus on the negative aspects of members, and even entire clans. Such is the nature of the ebb and flow of Camarilla politics. Tonight you may not shine, but wait until tomorrow – you may positively glow. If you find yourself on the negative side of Camarilla society, make efforts to rectify that situation. If you need to, take a night or two to sulk in your own misery, but come out of your shell stronger, prepared for court. Make strides to be better, and you will surely be recognized.
It is with a sad heart that I must say good-bye to the office of Keeper of Elysium. Prince Calhoun so graciously trusted me with such a heavy task, and for this I am ever humbled. Still, when the collective might of the Primogen council speak, I can't ignore it. As the office is now vacant, there are already whispers as to who might replace me. The most prominent rumor involves one of our Eldest jockeying for the position. I am sure all of us are most interested in who shall be our next Keeper.
Christian Cross has been a staple to this community for a good long time. His enthusiasm for our sect had him most recently take praxis, and for a brief time, hold the title of Prince. Though he fell rather quickly, he was not expelled from the domain, and chose to stay. Until last Saturday night. He fell to his inner demons, quite literally, and was beset upon by loyal members of the Camarilla. In the ensuing melee, Sabre of Clan Gangrel met final death, defending a fellow clanmate. While the Gangrel kept him busy, another group (lead by yours truly) arrived on the scene. JTM quickly dispatched the husk that was once Mr. Cross. In the aftermath, Kharma became enraged and attacked JTM. Realizing her attack was misplaced, she directed her rage instead at the Cross farm, setting fire to the entire complex. Rumor has it that Cross’s love, Alayna (the former Gangrel Primogen), was also destroyed, but I have yet to verify that information.
There is something dangerous residing in the woods outside our city. I implore all Kindred to work together to come up with a solution that will protect and save our city from impending disaster. The longer we wait, the worse the outcome will be. I have it on good authority that we are being watched by forces who will have no problem judging us unworthy of our sect membership should we fail. You have been duly informed.
On a more positive note, the battle of the parties has been concluded, and a clear, decisive winner has emerged! Renata, of the Giovanni, has won. The eyes of her clan were upon her, and have honored her with additional standing within their family. Additionally, it has been brought to my attention that Amanda Winters was the best dressed Kindred of the evening. I must say that is a well-deserved mention!
The ill-fated party, co-hosted by Cross and Sabre, seemed doomed from the start. Apparently, a rather large beer truck was ordered by Devonius, of clan Ventrue. Such a large amount of beer at a stationary location quickly gained the attention of the mortals in the area, and many gathered to partake. It seems as if the situation was handled quickly, as there have been no reports of mortal and kindred singing campfire songs together on the nightly news!
Finally, it must be noted that the Gangrel, as a clan, have been forbidden to hold any other status outside of Acknowledged until Prince Calhoun deems them redeemed. Perhaps with new leadership, the Gangrel will quickly be able to once again prove their worth to Camarilla society.
The following are merely rumors heard here and there around the city. Take them as you will.
-JTM is considering a change in last names. The most prevalent rumor is that he is considering “Giovanni.”
-The current Scourge, Azrael, has not been seen in many weeks. Perhaps he has met with a force beyond his ability to control?
-The Anarchs have been uncharacteristically quiet since their domain has been removed. Are they gathering their forces for a surgical strike into the heart of our city?
And remember: Contact me with any boons you are currently owed, and with any boons that have recently been collected. With your assistance, the politics and policies of our city will keep us strong for many years to come.
