Thread: Dec 28th Foyer (Attn: Miranda/Any)

Miranda enters quietly into the room where Otto sits, not wishing to disturb him. She is dressed slightly more practically than normal in boots and a long skirt that doesn't constrict the movement of her legs. Her hair for once is tied back in a simple ponytail and she carries a leather messenger bag on her shoulder.

Slipping into a chair at the table, she rests her head on her hand and watches Otto work, waiting for him to finish before speaking.

Otto is fairly focused on his practice, but once he notices Miranda his first reaction is to stand, but by that time she is already sitting so it is a bit comical. "Oh.... Hello.... Calhoun isn't around" he says informally as he settled back into his chair.

He seems a bit self conscious about the disarray on the table, as he waits he unabtrusively puts things in better order.

"That's ok," she smiles at him and nods towards the pieces in his hands. "Mind if I ask what you're working on?" she says in a conversational tone, her head still resting on her hand.

Otto smiles and points to the diagram in the book and the chunk of electronics "It's a ballast for one of those new fangled flourescent lights, makes them work. " he shrugs "I'm tinkering, trying to catch up with technology. I like working with bigger things... cars and the like, but" he shakes his head "even Automobiles these days have all sorts of tiny parts"

Miranda nods absentmindedly, "An artist can understand the need to work with one's hands. Perhaps it's like the darkroom for me, using the right amount of this and the right amount of that and soon beneath my fingers I've created something tangible and worthwhile."

She laughs at herself, "I won't fool myself into believing my inane chatter does anything but bore you to tears." The warm smile on her face lends to the impression that she is joking.

"I got your message," she states after a few more moments of watching him work.

Otto smiles slightly, though doesn't look up "Nah, I love gabbing.... with all that has gone on lately though.... well, it affects a fella" he tinkers a moment or two but then continues. "Well...I figured you had news for me but were too afraid to come down and visit, or spare a phone call... so I thought I'd practice leaving one of those voice message things..... " with that, he sets the small bundle of electronics and wires down.

The corner of her mouth quirks in a grin, "Oh? I don't really think I am all that newsworthy but if it's a chat about what's been happening lately you're interested in, I don't mind sharing if you return the favor."

She scoots her chair slightly closer to she can more easily watch him put together the light while they speak and draws her knees up to her chest, pulling her skirt over her legs. "Two things of particular note have happened in my own life; I have been chosen as the new Speaker for Clan Toreador. Also, I threw a party Sunday night that I'd like to think went very well, except for the part where JT Mogul upset our Prince. Otherwise, it was a good time."

Otto brightens noticably when you mention JTM, and has a sly smile when he hears you are the Primogen. "Well, lets get the business out of the way.... Welcome to the big table, I'm currently acting as the Lead chair, it isn't any kind of power kick, all I do is get things organized when someone asks me to.... " he gets his phone out and hits a few buttons more then is probably needed and then verifies if he has your correct number.

He doesn't offer you a hand or anything, though his smile seems honestly congradulatory.

"Did you need mine, or does your squaker remember who calls it?" he asks as if he doesn't understand that all phones do this these days.

"Nah.... if JTM made friends, I want to hear about it" and he goes into gossip mode, he leans forward forgetting about the wired thingie he was working on.
